Fantastic for research project (replaces those index cards that students lose!)

By allowing for individual or small groups to make their own open ended comments, this tool very naturally differentiates. It also allows for real reflection and collaboration that typical class discussions or other online tools don't do as well. Other possible uses include class note taking or mind-mapping. Overall, I see this facilitating some really high-level thought.

I have used Padlet which is a similar tool from the teacher's perspective, but it has a few more options that are important like working on a "pad" without logging in. I was able to make QR codes for public pad on Padlet and users just scanned the QR code and were able to start adding to it. With Lino, I was never able to make this work...if it is possible, I wasn't able to ever find the setting to adjust to make it so. I also am just hesitant to recommend using this without quite a lot of structure since posts are public and immediate. Teachers can delete other's posts, which is important, but I would expect some silliness and possible poor choices when a tool like this is used for the first time. Clear expectations for students will help greatly!

Lino is a great tool to have in your toolbox! It's a great way to engage all students and get feedback. Students like the variety of media content that can be posted on Lino. The colors help them to organize content in meaningful ways. I like that I can put all my lesson resources on a Lino canvas and maintain the attention of my students. Students like participating in this virtual space and seeing all the different responses posted on the canvas! Be sure to communicate expectations for communicating on this virtual space before they use this app.
