Exploring the World
Community Review for LeapFrog Explorer Learning Game: Globe: Earth Adventures
My Take
I do not like that the challenges they must complete are timed. I do not feel that the students are given a sufficient amount of time to complete the task at hand. This makes them want to give up and quit playing. I love that it uses real pictures so that students are looking at snapshots rather than cartoon drawings. They get to actually see the pyramids. They get to see and experience these things in a unique way. This is very accurate and beneficial to students. I think this is a great game. The students love it, and do not want to put it down.
How I Use It
I use this app when teaching Holidays Around the World. My students use this app to explore the countries we are learning about. This is a great way for them to learn about different cultures and geography. This is much better than simply using a globe. The students become immersed in the country and the culture that surrounds them. They learn about the animals and wildlife in the area. They see the landmarks and make a greater connection to they places we are learning about. And they are learning map skills as they go. They complete missions as they go and earn cards that allows them to open up more. They are very engaged and want to continue playing. They become part of the Geo Team and work to complete the missions, which they love.
