How I Use It

I initially introduced this to my students during Hour of Code. We prefaced this learned by giving physical movement directions around the classroom. Some directions we left vague and others very specific. Then we had a discussion about coding which was really great for 1st graders. Next we introduced the Kodable app to the class. We worked together at first and as students were showing success, they began moving to independent time. After that first experience with Kodable, my students ask to do it every day! I build in time at least once a week for Kodable in the classroom, but often it is an extension activity which is great motivation for doing a great job with the task at hand so they can have a few minutes to challenge themselves on the app.
