Super fun and engaging way to introduce computer science and coding to elementary age students. They loved the theme and ability to customize their fuzz and had so much fun learning coding basics. Easy to set up and use as the teacher!
Community Review for Kodable
My Take
I captured this above as well, but the only thing I'd say is we're heading toward using the many free options out there big picture. This has been great as another exposure and introduction for the younger kids, but with CS First and Code.org being free and also amazing, I'm using that with our older students who are ready to take it a step farther. I love what I see here so far, but our district doesn't have funds to purchase curriculum in this area.
How I Use It
I used it as an intro unit to coding with my 3rd graders to build off of to springboard into further coding in 4th and 5th grades. It was a great intro. Easy to get going, easy to understand as the teacher, and fun for the students. We had some trouble with kids going into other kids' accounts when only using the teacher code, so that created some teachable moments, but otherwise super great all-around. Very engaging at a time of year when kids are dealing with standardized testing and getting summer vacation itch.
