Typing + Digital Citizenship + Academic Vocabulary = The Best Typing Program Out There!
Community Review for Keyboarding Without Tears
My Take
I've used numerous other typing programs, and this is by-far the best. It builds in academic vocabulary including technology vocabulary. The program also utilizes two fingers while typing, forcing students to use home row. Even in the youngest grades, this builds muscle memory. The program also does an excellent job gamifying typing: students move along a "game board" as they progress and they also earn trophies and other badges for their hard work.
How I Use It
In our school, students get on Keyboarding Without Tears for about 15 minutes at the beginning of each technology class. The content is organized by week, and we aim to have students complete a week's worth each week of school. Nearly everything about this program has worked well, the only issue being a small technical component: if students don't have the program in full-screen mode, it sometimes deactivates the keyboard until they click back on the screen.
