Although this game-based tool is not useful for deep learning, it is great for pre-assessment and review.

My Take

I love that Kahoot engages ALL students and provides instant feedback. Although it is not suited for deep learning, it offers learning opportunities for students, direction for teachers and fun for all.

How I Use It

Usually, I use Kahoot as a pre-assessment for a new unit. This helps me determine students' knowledge base and form small instructional groups. I also often use it a the end of class to assess learning. This enables me to determine if reteaching is necessary individually or through whole-class. Kahoot is exciting and competitive, so I would not recommend using it at the beginning of class. It is difficult to get students calm and focused for learning.
