My Take

Kahoot is a great teaching tool, and using it is an easy way to incorporate technology in the classroom. High school students love using their phones any chance they get. By asking students to use Kahoot to respond to discussion questions, students stay engaged, and I remain completely updated and informed on where every learner is at in my classroom. Students see Kahoot as a fun activity, rather than an assessment tool. Most importantly, Kahoot is very easy to use and does not take much time at all to incorporate in a lesson plan.

How I Use It

I used Kahoot to create a review question to share with my whole class. I then asked students to participate by choosing the answer they feel is the most accurate. Kahoot gives me a quick, accurate assessment of how my students are responding to a specific topic. Lower-level students feel confident in participating in this whole group activity, even if they are not confident in their responses to the content question asked. These students can also recheck their understanding at a later time, by repeating questions that were already asked earlier in the lesson. Higher-level learners can use this feature as a quick review, while quickly moving on from topics they feel comfortable with.
