My Take

My students beg me to do Kahoots, and it's a great way to engage a range of kids. Students who are quiet in class are able to express their understanding, but students who may be slower processors get frustrated. It can too-easily be overused, and the halo effect can wear off. Used judiciously, it's great to have in your teaching toolbox.

How I Use It

It's not a way to assess deep understanding, but it can be used a variety of ways. I've used it successfully for:
Warm-ups
Assess pre-existing knowledge
Student-created quizzes
Review
Closing activity
Fun quizzes/transitions
Guided discussions - clarify misunderstanding
