My Take
One student in particular struggled immensely and was on the verge of tears, unable to understand the material despite numerous attempts. The explanations provided were so brief they were almost useless, leaving students more confused than before.
Tracking their progress was another nightmare. The reports were hard to read and didn’t offer any real insight into each student’s specific issues. I found myself spending more time trying to decipher the data than actually teaching.
Overall, the entire experience was so overwhelming and disappointing that I had to reconsider how I used technology in the classroom. It was a tough lesson in ensuring that any educational tool I use truly supports student learning rather than adding to their frustration.
How I Use It
When I first started with ixl for my class, I thought the kids would have a good experience with it. When I gave it for homework, It went BAD. My students told me it was too hard and it was taking too long to finish. I checked the time and one of the students had FIVE hours! Bad!
