Very good for review and independent practice. Language section needs to be fleshed out more.
Community Review for IXL
My Take
My students on the Autism spectrum LOVE this app and ask if they can use IXL at least once a week. It is predicable and formatted in an easy to follow way without a lot of clutter. It is pricey, I have a special education small group class, so it was doable.
How I Use It
I've used this with my interactive white board as guided practice to help model the skills and observe students' practice, allow students to develop confidence in sharing their problem-solving skills with their peers, then for independent practice, as a review or refresher and assigned activities for extra practice during breaks/snow days, etc. they can log on with Chrome or IPads(there's an app associated) or other tablet devices. IXL has included a tutorial with each problem that can be clicked on when a question is answered incorrectly which shows the student answer, then a brief instructional bit that explains the correct answer. It could be better if the students had to respond with the correct answer to require them to attend to the explanation instead of just clicking 'got it'.
