Great for practice if students are motivated.
Community Review for IXL
My Take
It is great to give motivated students extra practice, however it isn't so great for reteaching. When students miss a question, it explains what the did wrong, but I found that only the motivated students took time to pay attention to it.
How I Use It
Our school uses it during our intervention time. We divide the students into groups based on their needs (reading, math, enrichment). The math group goes to the computer lab and gets on IXL. There is one teacher that monitors the math group for grades K-2. This makes it difficult to use effectively because the kids don't always pay attention to why they are missing the question. To help with this the teacher will normally monitor the amount of missed questions as she walks around the room, when she sees a large number of missed questions she will sit next to the student and reteach the concept they are working on.
