iMovie is a top-notch portable tool for digital storytelling and other video projects.

I am not an educator, I am a college student exploring and reviewing various educational apps and websites for an assignment. However, after exploring all that iMovie has to offer and from remembering my own experience with iMovie as a student, it’s clear that iMovie provides many benefits to students and educators alike! One thing that I appreciate about iMovie is that it is aiming the easiest to use of all video-editing tools and platforms, and the best part is that it is completely free to use! For any users who struggle to use or navigate iMovie, there are plenty of video tutorials online as well as in-app tutorials for how to use iMovie, and these tutorials walk you through the process of learning how to use each tool and feature that the app has to offer. There are various ways iMovie can be used in the classroom. One way the app can be used is for individual and group student video projects, allowing students to creatively express their thoughts and ideas while also strengthening their technology skills and increasing their familiarity with technological tools. iMovie can also be used by teachers to pre-record, edit, and post their lessons online or present the pre-recorded videos to students in class, saving time and effort. Educators wishing to teach their students about video-editing can even design entire lessons around iMovie, teaching their students how to use the software and allowing them their own opportunities to try it out. My only complaints about iMovie from my own experiences with the app are that it takes up a lot of storage on your device, and that the app can sometimes crash.

I feel as though iMovie can be used for so many things. Whether you're using it to teach a class about video editing or allowing students to make their projects more personal and fun, I feel as though it has endless possibilities. It can be a little hard to navigate at first (how to add videos or layer them) but it's very easy to get to understanding how it works. I feel as though iMovie helps to make learning fun and would like to see it used more in classrooms!

The app is a great editing tool for basic videos. It is a good on-the-go editing app for adding several enhancements or features to videos. I like how easy the app is to understand and the various shortcuts that exist for trimming or extending a video. I wish the app had more advanced editing features and transitions. More transition options or being able to customize keyframes for the built-in transitions would help videos look more unique. I also think the app would benefit from implementing an improved interface for longer videos. Editing longer videos is tricky on the app because of how much swiping you have to do to reach a certain part of the video.
