My Sophomore Class had the first online debate ( in history) on Google Hangout!

I am not an educator, I am a college student reviewing different educational apps and websites for an assignment. However, I have tons of personal experience with Google Meet from when I was a highschool student during the pandemic. I think that the best thing about Google Meet is that it perfectly serves its purpose— it allows a way for people to virtually meet and communicate, which is especially useful for when communication cannot happen in person, as was the case during the pandemic. Something that I think is so great about this application is that it is extremely easy to use and navigate for teachers and students alike. Google Meet also has very little limitations or necessary purchases compared to other video chat software sites. Through Google Meet, teachers can virtually meet with individual students or with entire classes to teach a lesson, share educational materials, and communicate important information with students in real time. I like that users have the option to keep their cameras and microphones on or off, which allows the teacher to control whether the virtual classroom environment is more loud/engaged/student-focused or more quiet/teacher-focused. Users also have the option to type in the chat instead of speaking out loud, which can also be useful in many situations. Teachers even have the option to put students into groups or “breakout rooms” and can monitor each of these groups by going in and out of each breakout room. I think one of the best features of Google Meet is that it works great in conjunction with other Google apps, such as Google Classroom. Teachers can embed a Google Meet link on their Google Classroom pages so that students can easily access the kink to the meeting and the entire class can quickly join a virtual meeting. My only complaints about Google Meet are that the software can be slightly laggy at times, and that there are limits to how many users can join a meeting.

I believe that this is a great tool that can allow for communication between students. Through this tool, it can be a beneficial space for students. As this tool is free, it can be used as needed in the classroom.

For educators and students, Google Meet serves as a great platform for remote learning. Teachers can conduct online classes, share educational materials, and collaborate with students in real-time. It's a very versatile software that is beneficial for beginner and experienced collaboration software users.
