My Take

For a free app this product can't be beat. It is not able to handle complex word processing tasks such as the three fold flyer or brochure. My students have adopted this product for their work in other classes. If they are asked to create a PowerPoint they use Google Drive. This allows them 24 x 7 access to their work from any internet connect device.

How I Use It

As part of a website evaluation unit students have to do a research project on a topic from their social studies curriculum. Creating word processing documents in Drive is a breeze. The built-in research tool allows students to locate sources and add MLS or APA annotation footnotes to pages without leaving the document screen. Students share their documents for me to review. I add comments directly to the document for students to read and respond to as they edit and revise their compositions. Google Drive allows me to create forms to use as online exams and tests. Using the free plugin for Drive, Flubaroo, I am able to automatically grade these tests and email students their results.
