My Take
Google Drive offers teachers and students to create and collaborate on documents, presentations, surveys, and spreadsheets - with 24/7 access from ANYWHERE in the world.
By adjusting sharing and editing options, it is possible for teachers and students to collaboratively edit and contribute to Google Drive documents (etc) from home, school, and literally on different continents - in real time.
I strongly disagree with the recommendation that this tool be used with Grades 9-12. Google Drive apps can be effectively integrated into classrooms from Grade 2 to 12, and are an extremely effective research tool for primary / elementary students.
How I Use It
I use Google Drive apps to create collaborative presentations and documents for The Global Classroom Project (http://theglobalclassroomproject.wordpress.com).
I have used Google Docs with Grade 5/6 students to create a collaborative Google Doc, which we used to collect information from students and teachers in Asian countries as part of our Asia Inquiry project.
I also use Google Forms (surveys) to collect information for feedback / research purposes. Forms has HUGE potential for collecting data in maths, as well as surveying students and staff for various purposes.
