Google Classroom revolutionized the way that teachers communicate and assign work to students. If teachers use it effectively and mindfully in their practice, Google Classroom will allow teachers re imagine their classrooms.

My Take

Google Classroom is an incredible resource for schools, teachers, students, and even much larger institutions. It is simple to use, easy to navigate, and fairly straight forward. I also find that it is not as intimidating to people that are not as comfortable with using technology too. Also, if there are things that users find "glitchy" as they use it, anyone can send feedback to the Google Classroom team, and those changes to show themselves as made over time. Overall, it's a really great product that, I imagine, will only continue to improve and transform the way that we approach education with technology tools.

How I Use It

There are so many ways that a teacher can use Google Classrooms and ways that I've used it in my practice. Most commonly, I use it to post daily announcements and communicate with my students. However, I also use it for larger papers and research that I assign with my English classrooms. When I assign papers and students work on Google Docs that I have access to, I can peak into their work at any time. When I assign the rough draft portion of the paper, I allow students to peer edit with one another in their Writing Groups during class time. To do this, students share their google docs with each other and comment throughout their papers.
