Creating, Collaborating and Sharing-- Google Classroom
Community Review for Google Classroom
My Take
Excellent and engaging format for students and teachers, supporting the education of the 21st century students through collaboration and sharing their creative projects. Students can explore, create and learn at their own pace, using the tutorials or fellow students to learn the intricacies of the suite of tools. Google Classroom supports individualized learning both in the classroom and through the online environment, allowing the teacher to offer hands on help when needed and online comments to support the learning of each student. Offers another opportunity for all the students' voices to be heard and their needs for learning to be addressed in a more individual manner.
How I Use It
Google Classroom is a terrific tool for teachers and students. Schools can set up a Google for Education account, which can be used to generate gmail accounts for your students to access Google Classroom as well as a suite of tools offered by Google (Google Drive, Google Slides, Google Docs and Google Sheets to name just a few).
Once the accounts have been set up, Assignments can be created that the students can access. The assignments can be very detailed including attachments, rubrics, links for research and due date. The students are able to create their responses by using Google docs, sheets or slides which are automatically put in a file on the teachers Google Drive. The teacher can then add comments for editing and grade submitted work. Google slides can be shared with the whole class from the drive which eliminates issues with compatibility. This online environment promotes digital citizenship, supporting the students' understanding and responsible use of an digital based classroom.
