My Take

The kids and I enjoyed being able to search and find caches close to school. We often took walking field trips to a cache. It really fostered team work and communication as a small group had to share one device. The interface was clear and easy to use, clues and information is very easy to access. The free app really is not conducive to group work outside of the school - go for the paid.

How I Use It

Geocaching is a great way to show the connection between technology and physical activity. I use this app with 5ht grade students in a geocache club. The app has to be installed on a device that has cellular capability, not just wifi - if you are taking kids out to geocache, it will not work outside of your building. I used both the free and paid version of the app. The main difference being, the free version will not allow you to search and choose which cache you would like to visit, you are limited to caches within a half mile.
