My Take
I do think this app is better than Khan Academy for the K-8 students in my school. It is Common Core aligned, provides plenty of practice, is gamified, and has excellent teacher reports and analysis.
How I Use It
I would use Front Row in math groups to differentiate instruction for students, allowing them to practice concepts as needed, whether to remediate or to move ahead. The diagnostic tests allow the student to begin working at the appropriate place. The practice is gamified -- students earn coins, which they can spend to dress their little piggy. Cute. Front Row could be used at home, as long as their is connectivity and a device available at home. Front Row works on both computer (using the Chrome browser) and on iPad. I liked the app much more on the iPad because of the touch screen capabilities.
