This isn't a breakthrough or revolutionary technology, however, if you are looking for something that will provide quick and meaningful data that you can use to improve your pedagogy and to help with your small group settings, Formative is for you! When using formative, the effectiveness of the program depends on the time the teacher is willing to put in. Though it is a simple program it can be of great impact in your classroom if you're willing to create the assessments!
How I Use It
Formative is all about assessing students. Formative will not bring content to the students, nor will it help them to understand content differently or provide students with multiple points of entry. Formative was created to help teachers create engaging formative assessments that students will enjoy using.
I use this with students on 1:1 device ratio in my computer lab. The setup is simple, especially if you do not have email addresses for all of your students. Make sure to go over naming conventions with your students as they are able to create nicknames and sometimes students will get carried away. Great way to get instant data and to give detailed feedback to your students as well as start to have data talks with your students.
