Great simulations that can be used in place of laboratory assignments or demonstrations.

My Take

I really like using the Gizmos. If you take the time to go through them you can also pick and choose which aspects of a whole simulation you want to use if you don't want to use an entire one which is nice to pinpoint and focus on specific concepts. Sometimes the instructions are vague and it causes issues with understanding for the procedures for the students.

How I Use It

I use ExploreLearning Gizmos in a number of ways. I've used them as easy introductions to classes as well as for further application of already learned materials for the students to use as individuals. Students stay engaged with the Gizmo from start to finish and generally have a vested interest in completing the activity and understanding how/when they get incorrect results. I have also used it as to demonstrate different "labs" that we are unable to physically do so that students can still see concepts through the simulation.
