Recap, review, reinvent, react, refer with Explain Everything
Explain Everything is a useful tool for stimulating thought before a lesson (such as creating a brief presentation with essential questions for students to think about) or for recapping critical information (such as putting together a presentation that reviews the key ideas after a lesson or discussion). It is user-friendly and doesn't require a lot of preparation to use effectively, by either teachers or students. Its simple interface means that the emphasis is on content, not on fancy effects.
How I Use It
I use it to create brief presentations that recap critical content or ideas that come from a discussion and that can't be found in other places -- handouts, books, other sources. It is a great way to record those "a-has!" that occur in a discussion that you want captured for students who weren't there for who may benefit from hearing the ideas a second time. Sometimes I will create a brief presentation for kids to watch before coming to class that gets them thinking about essential questions or ideas that we'll be exploring in discussion.
