Essential Tool for Teachers, Essential Tool for iOS Classrooms
Community Review for Dropbox
My Take
I disagree with the reviewer slightly in that Dropbox is simply an ESSENTIAL tool for Grade 2-12 students, particularly if you are using mobile devices in your classroom.
Dropbox is simple, and easy to learn. Teachers will find it useful for accessing teaching resources (leave the USB at home), and students will find it an essential app on iPads.
Many iPad apps are integrated with Dropbox, making it one of the BEST and EASIEST ways to transfer student created content from iPod Touch and iPad devices.
Students don't need to use the web version, as the teacher can take responsibility for setting up the class Dropbox account and folder system.
How I Use It
As a teacher, I pay for extra Dropbox space, although I did benefit from the "Get More Space" offers that Dropbox provides (e.g. Through setting up Camera Upload). I use it to back up my teaching resources, photos, and personal documents in the cloud.
In the classroom, I've used Dropbox from Grade 2 to 7 as a way to enable students to transfer photos and video off iPads, or import photos to use in Animoto / Puppet Pal presentations. Dropbox is an essential tool in our iPad classrooms.
