My Take

I think Diigo is a great way to have students and teachers contribute to finding resources for any topic or project. It is also a great way to keep access to those resources long after the project is over. Now that we are able to share documents in the cloud it only makes sense that we have access to our bookmarks and favorite links in the cloud too. And it is a great way to have students share resources with us as teachers, just as we do with them.

How I Use It

I use Diigo as a way to share resources with students and colleagues. It is useful because your bookmarks are not confined to your own browser but accessible from anywhere and public if you'd like them to be. It is a great way to compile resources for students they can refer back to during an assignment or at home. In addition, teachers can create student accounts so students can participate without the need for an email account. This is a great way to have students contribute to finding and collecting great resources relevant to class or a specific unit/lesson.

Diigo also allows you to create groups so users can bookmark to a shared environment as well as their own library. I have created groups for things such as our teacher-centric iPad program. With this group any teacher can instantly share a newly discovered resource with all the other teachers in the building with a simple click. It is far more efficient than sending multiple emails and is a great way to keep resources easily. accessible
