FUN GAMES FOR DIGITAL CITIZENSHIP! Great and addicting games but the learning part has TLDR syndrome...
Community Review for Digital Passport
My Take
The videos, the lessons, and the teacher materials section are fantastic! They really added a lot to further instruction! However the games weren’t as successful as I would have liked. The games required a lot of reading which most students tended to just skim, guess, and then continue playing the game without really thinking. The games are fun, and the students did like them, but they just didn’t learn as much as I feel the game developers intended and it was a bit repetitive. Also I wish the students could replay certain levels, since once I saw the grades I knew exactly which ones they just guessed on to play the game.
How I Use It
I used this app to reinforce digital citizenship for grades 3-5 using Nearpod. I began with students all completing a digital compass scenario, then as a whole group discussed and debated the outcomes. Afterward I continued with direct instruction and finished with the digital passport recaps. We watched the video as a whole class; finally I had the students then play the game (pertaining to the lesson) individually. Then as a wrap-up I had students add the information learned to their PowerPoint notebook.
