A Passport to blended learning
Community Review for Digital Passport
My Take
The Digital Passport is a great learning tool. The lessons that accompany the games, or a teacher creating his/her own lessons to explain and reinforce the concepts, are key. Students' scores are recorded on the teacher account which is great way to assess the student progress. It also keeps them honest about whether or not they completed the game and how they did. I preferred the website to the app but now that our school is 1:1 iPads it only makes sense to use the apps. A few students understood the concept but had trouble with playing the games.
How I Use It
We used the game in each module as an introduction to the concept . After playing the Share Jumper, for instance, the students set up a blog (using Kidblog) where they created an avatar that was not an actual picture of themselves, developed a strong password, and created meaningful posts and commented on the posts of others. This facilitated an ongoing practice of the skill under the guidance of the teacher.
