My Take

This is an interactive way of learning which encourages students to explore various paths, understand the impacts of their decisions and learn more about digital citizenship. I appreciated the fact that students are not judged to take "wrong" decisions, they are encouraged to make mistakes and learn from them. This is a great tool for students to take ownership of their learning, debate on various pathways and feedback to the group and teacher about their learning.

How I Use It

Digital Compass is a free app available on web browsers or as a downloadable app (iPad, Android phone, Android tablet, chromebook). This App is an excellent eye-opener for teenagers about online behavior and tackles various topics (academic honesty/plagiarism, cyber-bullying, privacy, relationships, self-image etc). Students can work in small groups, alone or together as a class to look at the various scenarii offered by the game. They choose an avatar and take decisions.
