Information curation at the touch of a button
Community Review for Delicious
My Take
Students find information on the Web, but then don't know an efficient way to curate it. They bookmark EVERYTHING or they copy & paste URLs into word docs & save to their desktops in files ("Science Project"). Delicious is one of many tools to help them learn how to curate their Web resources. It's similar to Pinterest. The toolbar add-on button makes it easy to add sites to your Delicious account with one click. Adding tags is crucial to the sorting & finding capabilities of Delicious.
How I Use It
Taught students what it means to "curate" information, benefits of using tags, how to intelligently tag their sites when adding to Delicious. Most of them had no clue how to organize resources found on the Web, and were excited about a tool that would make it more efficient & easier. As a teacher, Delicious is a place I can put vetted Internet resources for projects, assignments, etc. Students can use it to store and share resources for group projects.
