My Take

This is a good tool for exposing younger age groups to coding and creating an interest around programming and computing as a whole. However, for teaching real coding and commands this is not suitable. But for younger ages groups, it is an excellent first exposure to the world of coding.

How I Use It

I used code.org mainly as an easy introduction to coding for my high school students. It is however, much more suited to the younger age group. The minecraft hour of code was a particular success with my students, as most were familiar with the game. <y main issue with code.org is the lack of retention, and actual coding involved. Students don't learn to code, they learn to follow in screen instructions with little or no retention of what they did or why they did it.
