My Take

My overall opinion about code.org is that it's a great way to learn how computer programmers build games. It is a nice way to introduce computer science to students. I like that it gives you different games to build and also gives you the option to build your own game. It could serve kids better by learning about computer science and getting the students engaged and interested in computer science.

How I Use It

I use code.org in class to show how computer programmers build games. I use this during my technology center time. I like the way they show students an introduction video about coding and how to use it. It's nice that it has the option to show you the real java script of coding underneath the "kid friendly" coding. It has self guided tutorials for the students. It has games for both boys and girls. It gives them the option of coding frozen, minecraft, angry birds, start wars, etc. The students were very much engaged in the program.
