I didn't think it was possible for my 4th Graders to learn to actually write code, but they are! This website is amazing!

My Take

I think this is a great way to teach kids to code!
What I like the most about it is that the kids are actually learning to WRITE code. I also love that it keeps the kids fully engaged. I have a hard time getting the kids to quit when class is over!
The thing I think could be better is the overall look and feel. It seems cluttered, visually, and the help and hints, etc., are in several places.

How I Use It

I teach Elementary Technology. One of my units is Coding. I started using this site a little bit last year, but ended up so impressed that I bought licenses for my 4th and 5th Grade students this year.
I do not give them very much whole-class instruction. Instead, I get them going, encourage them to work in groups, and help them one-on-one as needed.
This approach has worked for most students. A few struggle, but nearly all of them catch on quickly and love it! My biggest problem has been to get the kids to slow down, read and evaluate the problem before trying to write the code.
