Breakout EDU provides so many topic and subject-specific breakouts for FREE. They also give you the tools to make your own. You can buy the box/lock kit, but you can also get the tools from Amazon or your local hardware store. It's usually a large group task unless you have multiple kits. Alternately digital breakouts (https://www.breakoutedu.com/digital) can be done individually.
How I Use It
I use the physical breakout kit as either a topic introduction or as a summative assessment on a topic. The pre-made Breakouts are great and are across a variety of levels and subjects. I usually modify them or create my own, because I know my students. The breakouts are great to challenge students in collaborative and critical thinking. The digital breakouts can be used as individual assessments.
