My Take

Everything that I mentioned above in the "How I Use It" section is just the tip of the iceberg! There is so much more that can be done in Brainpop Jr.! Some is free but it is completely worth it to buy a subscription. Our school has purchased a site license, 24/7 use, for the last 4 years. I truly recommended.

How I Use It

I use it in my computer lab to support almost every single subject and topic area taught at my elementary school in NYC. I have digital copies of K-5 curriculum and scope & sequence for ELA, Math, Science, & S.S. and I am constantly aligning units of study to Brainpop Jr Videos that effectively support each particular topic or curriculum area. This program works very well with the young students, and even the ELL population ( they have an ESL version). Not only do I use the videos by their topics, but I also like their games. The Simple Machines game, which was created by The Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago, serves as a great example of the quality of educational games an educator can use with students. It supports our 3rd grade science scope & sequence (Forces & Motion, NYC ). I can also create a teacher quiz or have my students generate 'brainstorming' type maps.
