Bookopolis is a great site for students to discover new books. The 'Book Ideas' section is really useful because they will find suggested books that are award winners, newly released, and liked by other readers. Reviews by other readers is a great feature to read their feedback on why they enjoyed or did not enjoy the novel. Leaving their own reviews encourages students to express their own opinions and use their writing skills. They can also practice digital citizenship as they write reviews.
How I Use It
I would have my students use this tool for their reading log. They can add books they are currently reading to 'My Books' and add it to their reading log. The reading log allows them to record how many pages and minutes they read. They can even add comments in their log. Instead of printing out reading logs, this site is a great substitute especially for kids who easily misplace papers.
