My Take

My overall opinion on Book Creator is that is is the best creation app for sharing student learning. It is by far my favorite app and my students favorite app to use when sharing our learning. We are lucky enough to be a 1:1 iPad school district and have easily made the choice to make Book Creator one of our Essential learning apps for each iPad.

How I Use It

Book Creator is an amazing App that lends itself to any content area and beyond. I am a elementary technology integrator working with all kids 4K-5th Grade and use Book Creator with everyone.
Since this app focuses on creation it can be used for many different applications. I have had classes/students use Book Creator to publish their writing pieces, create their own non-fiction eBook on inquiry topics, use it to demonstrate their understanding of math concepts, and create how to guides for others.
Another avenue that I am working with teachers on is creating their own classroom teaching eBooks with students as the stars to make the learning more relatable and personal. eBooks about PBIS strategies, Reading strategies, Writing rules.. all with classroom students as the stars.
I typically introduce students to Book Creator through writing a book about themselves that they share with their class. I have them send me the book and I make a private classroom student page where they can download each others books and read them in iBooks. This lets them learn about different tools and applications while building the classroom community.
One of the best features of Book Creator is that it is the perfect App Smash tool. You can bring so many different Apps all together into Book Creator. I have students bring videos from Doink Green Screen, iMovie, Explain Everything or Stop Motion. Sounds and Songs created in Garageband. Pictures created in their favorite drawing apps... the list is endless.
