My Take
Big Universe is an online subscription service with online books. It also offers a simple book creation tool. I like that you can assign specific books to students and customize their bookshelf. Though the book creation tool has an outdated interface it is easy enough for even your youngest students to use. The service could be improved by offering more and higher quality books.
How I Use It
Teachers can use it to assign books to students that are appropriate for their level. Also, the bookmaking tool can be used by students to share not just narrative but also to create books about Social Studies and Science topics. The tool is simple enough that first graders can use it independently.

Kids love to read books online
I think this a great website to engage kids in reading. The website offers a wide range of stories in many levels and topics. Even my most reluctant readers found dozens of books they liked. The non fiction selection is very diverse and that's what most of my students read. The fiction stories are somewhat childish, even the higher level ones. The books go up to an 8th grade level so it's ideal for elementary and middle school students. It's very time consuming to assign books and there's no way to set up reading groups which would be very helpful.
