Creativity and deep thinking in simple steps
Community Review for Animoto: Video Maker & Editor
My Take
Animoto is a great way to apply knowledge to a creative project. Students are able to combine basic knowledge with stylistic creation to develop projects of which they can be proud, which is a goal of all teachers and schools. Because it is web-based, students can access it with nearly any device and anywhere there is an internet connection. With a few more options, Animoto could be a go to tool for all slideshow/video makers.
How I Use It
Animoto is a great "end-of-the-book" project in any language arts classroom. I have used this for a book trailer project following an in-class novel. Students were able to select images and video clips, as well as music, text, and other stylistic options, to create a "trailer" to convince others to read a book. The process of selecting images, music, and other options allowed the students to think deeply about what worked logically and stylistically for the book.
Animoto could use a few more options, including voice overlay and additional transitions.
