My Take

I love using this program to support student learning in content area classes. It's a great way for kids to show what they already know. There is a bit of a learning curve for my 7th/8th graders. So plan a portion of time for kids to play with the program to learn how it works. There are quite a few basic computer skills kids will need in order to be successful: saving a file, uploading pictures, following website instructions.
I run 6 classes a day with 30 students in each class. I would have students log in under my profile (our students do not have district emails) and the library bank gets very congested. If you have multiple students working on your user profile stress the importance of putting their name in the title.

How I Use It

In my computer class we have used Animoto to create short videos about their content from other classes. I've had students create videos about the Grand Canyon, plate tectonics, character studies, biomes, presidential biographies, and much more! They love the music and the ability to choose their own pictures.
