My Take

It doesn't have the flexibility or power of something like Keynote, Powerpoint, or even Google Presentation, but Animoto turns that limitation into a strength.

Kids can easily put together a straightforward presentation with stirring music, nifty (but not overly busy) animations, and pre-packaged themes. They often are surprised by how good the outcome looks and feel a sense of pride in that.

Making student accounts is currently a little hacky, and the management features for teachers are not great, but Animoto's a great go-to for quick presentation projects.

How I Use It

For simple/straightforward presentation projects. The themes and animations lend themselves to material that is creative or emotive.

Animoto presentations are like little movies, without pauses between slides. As a result, they don't really promote public speaking skills or audience feedback. Keep that in mind.
