My Take

The website offers a great selection of games for students. There are holiday 'fun' games too that help connect the units. I love that the site is free! The website even offers books that are read to students and they can follow along with the words on the page. Students are always excited to go to the website.

How I Use It

I use Abcya.com with my elementary students. The site offers many options to help teach mouse control and website navigation. Students quickly learn how to navigate the website to find the games they love during free time. When students are done with the lesson of the day, I allow them to choose a game from either the 'numbers' or 'letters' section of the website. I also add a specific link into our Moodle website such as; Keyboard Zoo and they have to complete the alphabet keyboard before they can choose a game of their choice. There are games that help reinforce letters, sounds, reading, classifying and comparing, counting and math skills. There are also logic games as well. They seem to love those games!
