My Take

I'm an ESOL teacher, and ABCya! is one of the main places I send my students for computer-based home English practice.

Their Dolch sight word spelling game (http://www.abcya.com/dolch_sight_word_spelling.htm) is the free web-based sight-word practice I've found. Most of the kindergarten teachers I work with let their students use it at the computer station.

The only way it could be better is if it were ad-free. Students have to scroll down on most monitors to get past the ads to the learning games.

How I Use It

I have a personal website that my students use as a hub for home English practice, and I link straight to specific games on ABCya! that I think will be most helpful for my students. The sight word game tops the list of "word games."

If/when I let my students access the site in class, they do it on a Chrome browser with Adblock Plus installed, so all the ad frames are blank and less distracting.
