ZEARN
Overall, Zearn is an outstanding teaching tool that effectively supports student learning and engagement. What I particularly like about Zearn is its visual and interactive nature, which simplifies complex concepts for students and helps them grasp both the "how" and "why" behind math processes. The game-like structure keeps students motivated and makes learning feel more like play, which is especially beneficial for reluctant learners.
However, there are areas where Zearn could improve to better support student understanding. For example, the Tower of Power questions often require students to perform multiple steps to arrive at the answer, but the platform doesn’t always provide sufficient scaffolding to guide them through the problem-solving process. This can be frustrating for students who may not fully grasp the individual steps required. Breaking these multi-step problems into smaller, more manageable parts would help students see the logic and build confidence as they progress.
Additionally, while Zearn is fantastic for independent learning, it sometimes assumes that students already understand key concepts or procedures. As a teacher, I’ve found it helpful to pre-teach certain lessons and walk students through the Tower of Power questions in a step-by-step manner before they tackle them independently. This approach ensures they are equipped with the skills needed to succeed.

An excellent program!
This resource is a wonderful tool. It could stand alone as a curriculum or be a supplement. The printed materials aide in assessment for understanding. I like that we can start on any Mission.
I would like to be able to assign different individual lessons to students, and not necessarily an entire topic within a mission.

We LOVE Zearn
I can't even believe that a resource such as Zearn it is free. The students love it as it is not so childish like other platforms used before such as Prodigy Math. The only things that I am missing as an educator is better feedback on how the students are doing, to understand better were they really struggle. Definetly a 5 stars resource. Thank you from the bottom of my heart ZEARN team!

Zearn is a great Math learning platform
I liked it's explanation and the way they trying to explain the problem. Especially the pictures.
I also liked the repetition of the same topic. I helped kids to memorize perfectly.

Best Supplemental FREE program-Intervention or Enrichment
This teaching tool is FREE. This is a GREAT tool to supplement your own curriculum. Teachers can assign lessons and move students around based on their needs, or to follow your curriculum's pacing. Teachers can even assign students a grade ahead, or a grade behind, to help with interventions or enrichment.

Great for Low to High Kiddos!
The kids like to compete with each other to see who can get the most lessons done in a week, but I like it because it helps my low kiddos get some additional practice and it helps my high-achievers go as far as they want to. I've challenged my high-ability kids to complete 5th grade by Christmas break or Spring break. One of them wants to complete it by Fall break! Very motivational!!

Love it!!
It is often difficult to find ways to help my students access the core curriculum in a way that they will understand and enjoy. Some students are able to complete Zearn lessons on their own while others work in a small group at my big board. Paras and I can rotate to help all. I have had 6th graders who can’t add double digits who - with Zearn’s help - were figuring out decimals and adding them with the online manipulatives. I LOVE the visuals and manipulates they provide and walking students through what they got wrong. My students love working together and taking turns clicking. Last year more than half of my students made Pathways of Progress ON GRADE LEVEL!! I did not just leave them alone with the learning, and with my positive attitude, the kids loved the learning!
I have also used Zearn in a Directed Studies class in Jr High for when students didn’t have work to do from their cotaught math class. The students enjoyed it- and got a treat for every completed lesson. I love that I could change lessons to align with the concepts they were working on in class. Several students would be surprised when they finally got concepts they were struggling with - yay manipulatives/visuals online!! I was ok with their skipping the videos because they have a class, but if they got answers wrong then we would go back to the videos. I can also adjust grade levels and choose concepts they need help understanding from another level - below or above their grade.
I have only used the online portion of Zearn, and I love that it is a free program my students can enjoy! It’s all about access to grade level core in a way that makes sense to them! Before they Zearn the kids in special class were lost at grade level, and everyone would tell me it is impossible to get them to that level. Thank you Zearn!!

One-size fits all, slow paced, multiple choice with little regard for understanding concepts
This had a very negative impact on my child. This forced him to go at a much slower pace and zone out looking at a computer screen. I caught him several times randomly clicking buttons. You can skip all the videos and jump straight to the questions. You then take your best guess and many times pass. If you miss, you click the other options until you move on. As we finally weaned him off the drug, he struggled to grasp concepts and was frustrated by any challenge. I am scared for any children that learn this way. It reminds me of the EHS requirements i have at work or flight safety videos on planes.
