It would simply improve a teachers way of assessing what students know.

There are many tools out there that allow the teacher to do quick checks of comprehension. This tool is the second I have encountered that allows the teacher to see live results as they are written. This is beneficial and time saving as the student no longer has to wait to turn in an assignment before getting feedback. Providing immediate feedback allows for teacher/student conferencing in real time. Due to the fact that I teach alot of students and I only meet with them once or twice a week, this allows me quick conferences with my students and allows more students to receive feedback from me more often. I like it.

I like it more than other assessment tool because Formative not only has the multiple choice option or true or false option, but it has other options such as short answer and show work. I can see how much students understanding from the lesson by looking at their work. I can upload pictures or hints or screen shots. I usually upload screen shot from the part of lesson as a hint for students.

I like the fact that students get instant feedback. This is especially important after school when students are struggling with motivation and alertness.

This has been the best formative assessment tool I have seen and used. It's ability to allow students blank space to write mathematical content is essential to a math assessment. The ability to upload graphs and images is a huge bonus for lower skilled students or students that need helpful hints. My overall opinion is excellent.

I think this product is a great, fast, and efficient tool to use to get real time results. I like how quickly you can see the results. It can help me plan my lessons and drive the instruction based on how the students are replying to the questions on the formative assessment. I can gauge the different ranges of understanding and base my small groups from there.

This isn't a breakthrough or revolutionary technology, however, if you are looking for something that will provide quick and meaningful data that you can use to improve your pedagogy and to help with your small group settings, Formative is for you! When using formative, the effectiveness of the program depends on the time the teacher is willing to put in. Though it is a simple program it can be of great impact in your classroom if you're willing to create the assessments!

It is great for assessing students in a variety of formats, for giving them different options for responses and also enabling them to receive faster/live feedback. It is really neat sharing some of their work on the Smartboard to see their answers live or drawings in progress. I liked how quickly they received my comments and how engaged they were, and asked for me to add more questions, and to use it more often, in place of other tests or assignments. it is a great supplement to the resources I have and definitely helps with cutting down the time needed for grading traditional paper assessments. I really liked moving about the room and seeing them so engaged and working with one another, reading the feedback, and having fun and learning. There are many possibilities with this tool and I recommend giving it a try, Some students were later using their phones, which made it a little bit of a different experience, but they all liked the use of Formative and what they could do with it. I enjoyed seeing their work live and the end products of their drawings and other creative designs.

I wish there was a way to duplicate questions. I often have very similar questions that just differ by a few words. Another feature I wish they had was the option to randomize the order of the questions and/or the answers. Sometimes the website is glitchy. I have given up a Formative in the middle of class because the students were frustrated. Sometimes when students try to login they are prompted to join the class again, even though we have used it all school year. I just keep the class codes handy when I know we are going to do a Formative on a given day. The majority of the time it works fine, so I will not give up on the website completely. There is always a lag when trying to view student work live and going from one question to another.

Formative has the complete package for getting a pulse on your students' understanding. The flexibility allowed in questions types and grading makes this one of the best web based tools. The site is easy to use, allowing easy sign up through your existing Google account or other accounts. It also allows you to use your existing content to create your assessments including PDFs, Google Docs, and Docx files. In order to use this site, you will need to make sure the network you are using can support the site since using this for live feedback requires a good bit of Internet bandwidth.
