I use quill to teach all things grammar in my classroom. Now with the pre and post diagnostic test, I can measure their growth and use the report to drive future instruction and to help me measure their goals.

Quill is a highly comprehensive grammar and writing tool that allows students to practice skills they have yet to master. It allows teachers to assign activities according to each individual students' needs. I would like to see expansion of writing activities for grades 6-8 utilizing the incorporation of providing evidence.

I love Quill. I have shared it with my other colleagues and they have enjoyed it as well. It has been amazing to see students progress towards proficiency through the provided lessons and their hard work at figuring out the solutions to the questions.

The free package is very generous. The exercises, though using repetition to drive home the rules, are engaging and some of the topics are pretty interesting and niche leading to some good conversations and research tangents. The diagnostics work well and there is a huge amount of resources for each level. I like that they've added ELL levels too. Critique wise, it would be good to have a British English version and a way to disable apps like grammerly.

This activity helps students learn grammar skills while sharpening their writing skills. Many students struggle with grammar and are unsure how to utilize what they learn. Teaching grammar without context can cause difficulties applying the content. With Quill students are given exercises where they can apply what they have learned. Exercises are made for the needs of the student. Also, the site gives feedback and tells students where they need to improve. 

This is a really useful tool for grammar instruction and practice. Many of my 7th graders missed grammar basics. This is a really useful way to fill in knowledge gaps for all students. Students and I love that it gives feedback for each question right away. I appreciate students being able to move at their own pace and then spend a little extra time with students who are struggling.I've seen big improvement in capitalization, comma rules, and more complex sentences. I'd definitely recommend this to teachers of older students who have students struggling with grammar basics.

Good, needs some updates though

I love it! It's effective and zeroes into the exact skills my students need to learn. I also like that it works on creating more smooth, polished and sophisticated writing in my students and not just focus exclusively on grammar. I find it hard to play around with lessons once they are already assigned. I'm unable to delete certain lessons in a packet- instead, I need to assign all or nothing.

I love the program. The suggested activities are great. It is not entertaining, but the students really do learn on this. The practice is clear. An example of how to correctly answer the question , then going into the work would be a more sound way to do this - the gifted would pick up the skill from just an example.

I really like that I have control over assigning work after their diagnostic test. The times when they have to combine three simple sentences to make more compound and clear sentences are excellent. After my sophomores tested, Quill prompted me to consider teaching whole group on three different topics. I haven't tackled that yet, but it's on my list. I highly recommend trying this free tool to get started, but I am going to purchase the advanced tool for $80.00 and start going a little deeper.
