Game Theory gets students involved using Kahoot!
In my high school most students have phones and already have the Kahoot! app, so it just takes a few minutes to get a quiz assessment started if I have the content prepared in advance. The quizzes or games must be created online in advance of use. You do have access to a bank of games other folks have created, but many are not the best quality or are not specific enough for your content. You can divide students in groups (teams) or let them work individually. When you create quizzes, you get to choose different question types, and you can add graphics. I thought the instructions on creating a quiz were a little sparse, but I managed. You can do quite a bit with a free account, including saving your quizzes. My students love this activity. I'm guessing they might get burned out on it if it was overused. I say try it!

Make Quizzes Competitive and Fun
I really like the use of Kahoot as a fun way to review material and check student understanding of concepts. As compared to some of the other game-show format quizzes I've used (e.g. Baamboozle), Kahoot easily provides away for all students to answer all questions (i.e. there is no down time). The problem is when individual students don't have smartphones, or individual devices fail. I work in a school setting without many technology resources and I have to rely on individual students' smartphone data plans if I want to use Kahoot. This is risky, and I've definitely had problems with wasting class time as I want for students to be able to connect. Nevertheless, when it works, it's great! I love getting instant feedback what students are getting right and wrong, and students seem to genuinely enjoy playing Kahoot.
With only multiple-choice questions, Kahoot clearly cannot test for deeper/ more complex levels of understanding. It's good at what is does do though: serve as a general test to get a basic idea of what students do and don't understand.

Great tool, lots of engagement, but not that efficient in building deep understanding.
Pretty good tool to use in class, but lacks depth. Very engaging and students love it as they are often very competitive.

Good resource for gamifying formative assessment
Kahoot is great tool to use excite students about review or other formative assessments. The competitive nature of the game is very engaging for most students and students get very into the competition. I sometimes have trouble having students discuss answers in more detail because they want to move on to the next question. Because it is a timed activity and pushes speed and accuracy, sometimes slower processing students can get left behind. I haven't tried the homework mode because my students don't have devices that support it, but others have told me that this mode can help with that issue.

terrible wont let us do anything
Once you’ve logged in, you are taken to a dashboard where it asks you to make your first Kahoot! They also let you check out a video that shows you how to make a Kahoot! and what to do once it’s done. The video is OK. The person doing the video has his face in the top right hand corner – it’s a little weird – not in a bad way. It’s weird in the sense that I personally don’t think it brings anything to the video.

This game is very frustrating for all of my students. The older children in 7,8, and 12th grade do not even look forward to playing anymore. This game is too competitive, instead of taking in the material my students are focused on winning.
I HATE IT!! In classroom mode on our huge monitor at the front of the classroom. This product is only good for Advanced learners who can keep their cool and can learn the correct way to act when they lose. Even my older less mature children can't use it. It is horrible!! I do not recommend. My fellow teachers and staff who attempt to use this horrible game also experience difficulties in setting the game up and the way the children act when they lose. THIS GAME IS HORRIBLE!! THE END!!!

Fun and entertaining assessment tool!
I love KAHOOT!!! Not only do my students get excited about our Math Reviews but I do too! The thing I love about it is that you are the creator of each quiz. You are not depending on other questions, where half of them do not even pertain to what your students need. I like the added part of Save Your Results because it downloads to Excel and allows you to look to see who has struggled and work with them one-on-one. I like that it is a safe, kid-friendly site for my students to be on.

Engaging and easy to use.
it is an effective formative assessment tool. The students can work in groups or individually. You can get a spread sheet of results to see where your students got the material and where you need to re teach/assess.

Kahoot is a great app for classes
Tried this with my class. It took a while to get them signed on and for them to figure it out, but once they did they loved it and I think it will be much easier next time. I think it’s a good way to figure out what the kids know through teacher-generated tests.

A great tool to keep students engaged in their learning!
Kahoot is one of my favorite tools to use for quiz/test prep, or when I want gauge learning in class. My students are truly excited when we use it. Kahoot brings out their competitive side, and the end result is the pride and ownership they take in their education.
