I love using Dojo, I hope you will too!

I love that they have videos to go along with concepts now. Not just points for behavior management but things like lessons on growth mindset.

I like that it is interactive and parents can be involved.

It is a cute program, great for making a home to school connection, although it does require participation on the parents part to create and account and have the app on their personal device.

I like that I can assign things for them to complete on their student portfolios, and their parents can view it instantly and comment on it. I think that aspect is very engaging.

I really enjoy using this tool for all of my students. Since I am not a homeroom teacher, I am able to connect with students and their parents in several different classrooms and grade levels.

This is a great tool to use in the classroom. I love that I can hand out to points to individual, whole class, or small groups of students. I can use my computer or the app on my phone so I can give out points and share work at anytime from anywhere. I change the dojo monsters with the seasons and the kids love seeing their new avatars. They like to work toward a goal and enjoy giving themselves points for their good behaviors. It has really helped with my cleanup time being more organized and quieter, as well as helping for the students to remain quieter while doing their work.

In its first iteration, ClassDojo had two functions: reinforcing positive behavior in the classroom, and facilitating communication between teachers and parents related to positive behavior in the classroom. These are still the main functions, although at the time of this publication the app has been expanded with at least one additional major function and a number of other features as well. The behavioral component allows teachers to reward students with positive feedback in real time by assigning points to the students' avatars. Students can choose their avatars from a gallery of appealing cartoon figures. The avatars accumulate points for positive - or negative - behaviors, which teachers can customize and use (or not) as they please. Teachers can share reports, private messages, and student work samples with parents at any time, and parents receive a weekly report automatically. A new addition to ClassDojo is Student Stories, an online portfolio created by the individual student to showcase classwork in photo and video format. Student Stories are viewable by the student's parents and teacher. Critics of ClassDojo all end up admitting - sooner or later - that ClassDojo has several very good uses and their only real concern is that it has the potential to be misused. This is not a legitimate critique. . Everything, including the critics' own blogs, the Internet and literacy itself, has the potential for misuse. Technology empowers - it is the users' responsibility to translate that power into positive effect. ClassDojo goes above and beyond the norm in providing resources for proper, positive use of their product. ClassDojo is not doing anything new. Teachers have been using strategies and techniques for behavior management in the classroom since the beginning of time. ClassDojo just does the job in a user-friendly, fun, collaborative way. That's a good thing.

As a teaching tool, I have not used it yet for that specifically. More for the social and behavior aspects. I can add on class stories things we are doing and assignments, pictures of homework due, etc. We have also used the mindset videos which are great!

Classroom Dojo is a teacher-friendly app that is a great starter tool for classroom tracking and investing students into behaviors and participation. There is also some parent connectivity that is also a bonus (if your school allows). One thing to consider with this app is how to incorporate Classroom Dojo into the gradebook as there is some connectivity as well but it needs to be purposeful.
