This website makes it easy to create polls to ask formative assessment questions.
The polls are easy to set up but students do need a device to use the polling system. They either need a phone with texting, twitter access or a device with a web browser. Students have sometimes had a hard time understanding the directions with texting because they have to text a code to a particular number in order for it to work. Once they get it though, it's a fun way to get a sense of what they are thinking.

Peer instruction 101. Easy to get started with, brings lectures to life.
The pedagogy of peer instruction and "clickers" is now well established through research. This tool allows you to introduce peer instructions in the classroom without any cost. Up to 40 student classes run for free. This tool has many features and I love it.

Good for one-question quick feedback
Real quick to set up and the introductory video makes navigating the site a breeze. Some features can be buggy at times such as the power point add on and clearing poll results. The fact that some real useful features (i.e. summary reports and user identification) cost money may turn away some users. Also, the free version only allows for 40 participants at a time. :(

Quick responses with immediate feedback.
Poll Everywhere is effective because it's simple. It's basically a whiteboard your students can write on from their cell phones, and their responses show up close to immediately, so you can see them and give immediate feedback.

Great tool for bellringers at the start of class
I really enjoy using Polleverywhere. I like that you can push the polls out to your website which allows students to answer questions on their laptops as well. This is a great tool for student responses.

Free way to get real time results and produce interactive presentations
This website is great for working with today's students. They are craving interactive learning and want their opinion to be heard so poll everywhere is a great way to accomplish both goals and engage your students more fully in your lesson. It's very user friendly for the facilitator and our smartphone wielding tech savvy students. My only advice is to be prepared for a variety of outcomes of the polls you put out and be prepared to discuss with the group and have them explain their choices!

A great way to get instant feedback!
This is a great tool for gathering student feedback anonymously! Students can respond from their cell phones, laptops or iPads, making it easy to gather instant feedback. The program asks respondents to use a short code to "vote" for their response, allowing voting to be mobile and quick. Students can vote more than once though, which can offset results. I like that there are multiple voting options, allowing students to use whichever device is more convenient. Additionally, polls can be placed on social media sites and websites to reach more people or a targeted audience. Overall, this is an efficient way to gather data quickly and anonymously.

Good, inexpensive, multi-platform poll website
This website allows you to create polls and use them with your classes. It was easy to create the polls and easy to execute them. It is great for getting the whole class involved, especially those students who shy away from answering questions. For my teaching purposes, it allows me to either quiz the students, or poll them for their opinions and then lead a discussion. As a learning tool, it allows the whole class to see what the thoughts and opinions of others are. I like that it is interactive with the students. I liked that it was multi-platform, so when I had a class with both iPads and desktop computers, everyone could answer. There wasn't anything about using it that I didn't like and the students shared my sentiments. They wanted to do it every class! However, I didn't like was the price. I used the free version (I liked that price), but to get all of our teachers on it would be cost prohibitive.
