Excellent way to gather data.
Children and teachers will be actively engaged using Poll everywhere. It is a great teaching tool because it is user friendly. Teachers can gather information needed from their students. Poll everywhere would work well for public librarians as a tool to gather information from their advent readers and colleagues keeping up with today's pop cultural trends.

Poll Anywhere is a great easy way for group quick response collection.
This is a pretty good app. Not fancy but gets the job done. I wish it had multiple questions per poll but the free version works well.

Great for STEAM Schools and Preschool Classes
My overall opinion about this teaching tool is that it is a great addition to any STEAM school and can be sure with preschoolers in which is the age group I work with. I like that it is an interactive tool that can get even the parents involved actively participating int he lessons. It is a fun way to get the parents opinion and allows the students to convey their opinion or thoughts about a topic. I like that I am able to change the way people response for exam ole i can do a multiple choice poll or a word response poll. Either way it is a change from my ordinary and boring way of taking a poll and it is a great addition to our program. I wish that I was able to monitor the responses to confirm that every student did make a response.

Use keywords to make a word cloud - great feature within PollEverywhere
I love Poll Everywhere because it's quick, easy to set up, and provides powerful displays for audience responses. You can choose to display responses line by line, in clusters, as a ticker (at the bottom of the screen) or as I prefer, via word cloud. This tool can be used for virtually any kind of questioning activity in a classroom (even in a small group where students have to discuss, summarize and then arrive at one or a few keywords to respond to the poll question). The free version only allows 25 responses per poll, so keep that in mind as you're structuring your lesson. Also, be sure to have a conversation about how to respond appropriately in a public forum, as you can not simply click and delete an inappropriate response.

As a tool it is a fun way to get a pulse on the class. It also provides all student's a voice in the class discussion without the fear the comes from having to raise one's hand. It is also great for BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) as polling can be done on mobile devices.

Poll Everywhere: Easy formative assessment. Easy class feedback.
I love this tool because it is so easy to use. I also love that students don't need smart phones, iPads, etc. Almost all of my students can send a text, and it takes no time at all.
Poll Everywhere will also create a simple bar graph of the results, so it's easy to see where students get it and don't get it.

Fun, easy tool for assessment
This is a great tool for a pre or post assessment. It gives the teacher and the students immediate feedback. The teacher can use this tool to assess understanding and modify teaching as needed, The free tool has limitations, but usually can be used effectively in the classroom. The paid version is powerful, but can be expensive because of the per pupil cost.

Great potential, but free K-12 Basic plan leaves out essential "Moderation" capability
I realize that moderation may be a key feature used to motivate people to become paid subscribers, but without moderation in the free K-12 Basic plan, you may have a negative initial experience. The inability to delete inappropriate or junk responses, leaves the poll unmanageable. Despite directions and setting expectations with students, inevitably some students will make an inappropriate or unwanted choice, thus the teacher needs to be able to delete and possibly suspend further responses from any user in the moment. Otherwise your lesson can go sideways quickly, and what you were trying to accomplish can be lost or set back.
So I ended up with this dilemma… "I can't manage the poll without moderation. If I can't manage the poll in the free version, then I can't safely assess PollEverywhere as a learning tool using their free version. In sum, I don't recommend the free version because the essential feature of "moderation" is not available. Therefore if you want to safely tryout PollEverywhere for K12, then you need to spend $50 for their K12 Premium plan.

Poll Everywhere is great for quick checks for understanding and audience engagement
I like the simplicity of this tool for quick feedback and assessment during an interactive lecture. I also like it as an exit ticket that saves paper. A next step to improve this tool would be an option to not allow for anonymity, but rather require responders to attach their name to their vote/response.

My Checking For Understanding Superpower
Even though it took me a little bit of time to figure out how to set it up and use it, I am firmly and likely forever Team Poll Everywhere. I prefer using the open-ended option, but I require that students start responses with their names so that I can go to a student who reveals a misunderstanding and reteach. Because all of their responses are saved on the right side of the screen, I can point to their work and discuss elements. Even though I wish I could customize the live poll view for my students a bit more, this is in no way enough of an issue to dissuade me from using this product.
