Community reviews for Popplet

While I haven't (yet) had the opportunity to test Popplet with my students, I can not recommend this app highly enough - based on my extensive reviews of iOS (iPad) brainstorming / mind mapping apps. Popplet works well on the web, however, it's best application is on iOS devices, particularly iPads. It is an intuitive, and extremely visual tool, and works well in the classroom. The free Popplet on iPad is limited slightly; however, I believe this is worth paying for - particularly if you are interested in encouraging student thinking and group collaboration in the classroom

Popplet is visually appealing. You can set up a board with a few clicks. With a free account you can have 5 boards. If someone wants more, they would have to pay for an account. The Yearly Plan for unlimited Popplets is $30.  The use of Popplet is practical. You double click to add a bubble. Bubbles can be customized with color and to include text or pictures. The free account does limit the number of pictures that can be included on a board. It is easy to add additional bubbles that build off the first. It is visually appealing and easy to use. Students are able to collaborate on a Popplet, which raises the engagement level.
