Great conversation starter or review for students
I wish that this website was not as expensive. I rarely use it because I do not want to pay for it. I use it once in an while when I sign up for a free trial but that only lasts about 10 days. I think this is a great tool for quick review or a springing board for a class discussion.

Great for at-home homework questions and continuous learning
I really like BrainPOP as a teacher and a parent. My kids (children and students) find it engaging and interesting. They often use the Video of the Day to jump to new topics or to find new interests to pursue. As a hook, it catches both my visual and auditory students; as a brain break, they often lead to quick Socratic discussions.

Quick way to support your students' understanding in a safe way.
The best part is that I know they are always appropriate videos without having to preview them ahead of time. This is great when student questions take the lesson in a new direction. I'm able to differentiate instruction on a dime. The quiz feature is a nice way to differentiate instruction for varied learners. I can see who understands the material and who needs more scaffolding. My students are always exciting when they hear the "pop" that lets them know we are about to watch another Brainpop video.

Fun, engaging way to explain new concepts!
I love that it has a great sense of humor and that the kids are definitely interested. I think it is a great way to lessen the amount that I talk, while still conveying a lot of great information. The quiz provides good information about what they already understand about the topic. Super easy to access and use.

Great independent learning tool for all ages: self-directed learning at its best!
This is a great tool for teaching and it covers a large area of topics! I love the humor and the characters: content is presented very clearly and assessment is directly related to learning.
It could serve students and teaching better if it were to track progress/ remediation needs for students. Also, incorporating more text-based evidence within the assessments would be ideal.

BrainPop is awesome and kids love it! Wish all movies were free.
The kids absolutely love the BrainPop free app. However, if you are used to the full paid webiste, you might find this somewhat limited. The free movie is BrainPop's choice, so it is difficult to use as a curriculum support. There are some free movies (three for each subject area) you can count on, so use them where they align to your units of study. The quizzes are good, you can have students take a screenshot of their scores when they complete the quiz. I wish there was a better reporting system for the quizzes so that students responses were recorded.
